“One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. ‘Which road do I take? she asked. ‘Where do you want to go?’ was his response. ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it doesn’t matter.”
― Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland
This is where you go down the rabbit hole my friends without a true plan and yes, ramble. A ramble can begin anywhere, but I mostly ramble from my bike shack in Hailey, Idaho. No real purpose or direction other than the joy of exploration and the unknown. Expect both the expected and unexpected and never lose your sense of humor. I am a lover of maps though and so always head out with one or two for general navigation. A little preplanning cheating is acceptable (RideGPS, Kamoot, Trailforks, Google Maps, Garmin, iPhone). Sometimes the road ahead might be a little rough; you might even hit a dead end and turn around. Other times bushwhacking and hike-a-bike is the necessary option. More often than not, I find something awe inspiring to share with friends and new friends. And, at the end of the day no matter when that is. Camping under the stars is mind blowing.
Route Design Cues
After many years of rambling and considerable bushwhacking events. I consider myself a rambling expert and always head out with a properly outfitted bike. Getting back home intact, tired, hungry, dirty, scratched and safe is joyous. I encourage you to contact me using the contact form for any additional ramble help.
